MP David Cameron is backing the campaign by town and county councillors in Carterton for a fire station.
Councillors have been trying to get a station for the town for 20 years.
Cover is provided from Burford and Bampton, while firefighters from RAF Brize Norton will respond to emergency calls in most circumstances.
Mr Cameron said: "Carterton wants to be a fully functioning town and needs its own facilities such as a fire station. I have written to the county's chief fire officer to ensure I have an opportunity to comment during the consultation."
The county's Chief Fire Officer John Parry said the Government was carrying out a review of risks across the county. "We are looking at Carterton as part of that process, but we cannot look at it in isolation as it will have an impact on surrounding areas," he said.
