Dunstable Town 2, Thame Utd 1: A below-strength Thame gave a battling second-half performance and were perhaps a little unfortune not to earn a point against their high-flying Ryman League Division 1 North rivals.
Thame's already decimated squad was further depleted in only the seventh minute when Tom Goffe was injured in a clash of heads and was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from concussion.
With Thame trying to adapt to their new system, the home side took the lead when they exploited the hesitancy on Thame's right flank for Tommy Hayes to score from an acute angle. On the half hour mark, Dunstable got another when Stuart Strange netted.
That spurred Thame into action and they created some chances of their own with Alex Stewart prominent.
After the break, Mark West reduced the arrears on 58 minutes, and although they tried hard to level they just couldn't make the break- through.
Thame Utd: Smith, Hocking, Joyce, Saulsbury, Williams, Avery, Freeman, Franklin, Stewart (Mitchell 78), M C Jones, Goffe (West 7). Sub not used: Chowns.
A goal from Paul Searl was enough as Thame United Reserves boosted their Suburaban Premier Division survival hopes with a 1-0 win over Basingstoke.
