Tilbury 2, Oxford City 1: Oxford City gifted the home side all three points in a disappointing Ryman League Division 1 North game played on a hard surface on Saturday.
But this was no excuse for City's lacklustre performance.
An early cross from Chris Harper saw several shots blocked, before City took the lead in the ninth minute.
Harper's run into the box was brought to an abrupt end by Kevin Jopson's challenge. Neil Champelovier scored from the penalty spot, and although keeper Marc Baker partially saved it, the ball crossed the line.
Sam Shepherd's miskick from a Duffy Floyd corner caused anxious moments in the City defence, but the danger was cleared.
Then Jemaine Ferreira put in two good efforts, but to no avail.
Three minutes before the interval, Tilbury equalised. A 50-50 ball into the six-yard area saw Paul Cobb get the touch-in before keeper Steve Benbow could collect. Tilbury were now showing more desire, despite the efforts of the industrious Harper, whho saw his shot blocked.
After 72 minutes, Tilbury hit the winner. Shepherd's misplaced header set up Niall Ritchie, who slammed his effort against the bar, the rebound falling to Duffy, who drove home the ball home.
Oxford City: Benbow, Smillie, Ferreira, Antonowicz, Brown, Shepherd, Champelovier (Lee 75), Ballard, Prescott (Simpson 75), Harper (Doyle 75), Crosby.
Oxford City Res won 1-0 against Met Police in the Suburban League, with a goal from Gareth McCleary.
