Carers looking after young people with arthritis can access specialist advice and support from a new network group launched by an Oxford hospital.
The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, in Headington, already offers expert care for children and adolescents with rheumatic disease.
But doctors and nurses knew that bringing together families affected by the conditions would allow them to share their experiences and support each other.
As a result, a new parent-led group was launched on Saturday, April 24, at Headington School hall.
Dr Joel David, consultant rheumatologist, said: "Arthritis can be devastating for children and their families.
"While we provide a range of medical and other services for our patients, we recognise the enormous support that can come from others who suffer from the same illness.
"The parent-led network will also work alongside the hospital team to enhance and complement the medical care. Their invaluable input will help us design the best care for our patients."
