SIR - Are we, the electorate, to believe that your newspaper was wrong to publish details about the misplacement of £1m of our council tax?
How dare county councillor John 'new boy' Howell suggest that you were "seeking to perpetuate a culture of blame". I applaud you for making the matter public.
Dr Howell may have entered the hallowed portals of power, albeit at a lowly level, but he should not try to tell us that £1m of our money has been 'lost' and that is inconsequential.
Next time that he and his colleagues have a million (of our money) to spare, perhaps they could let us have it at our school in Abingdon.
The headteacher and I could certainly justify what we did with it - with invoices, too!
