Oxfordshire County Indoor Finals: Oxford & District's John Philpott produced a superb display to beat reigning champion Calvin Carpenter in the Oxfordshire Indoor men's singles final at Oxford City & County.
Philpott and his Banbury Cross opponent were locked together at 11-11 after 15 ends.
But a magnificent final bowl from Philpott moved the jack by two feet to make a count of four and give him the advantage to go on and win the title.
Carpenter gained consolation with victory in the pairs, teaming up with clubmate Darren Sharpe to comfortably beat Oxford & District's Brian Salsbury and Arthur Hall 21-6.
Nick Welch, Chris Earl and Paul Comley dominated an all-Oxford & District triples final.
Their team play proved too much for John Heapy, Dale Hall and Ian Snowdon as they ran out 21-8 winners.
Snowdon's rink of Roger Gotobed, Heapy and Hall, having lost the previous day in the triples, hit back to destroy Oxford & District clubmates Philpott, Howard Watts, Chris Allen and Glen Allen 20-7 in the fours.
Philpott also met his match in the under 25 handicap singles when he faced Welch.
Despite every effort on Philpott's part, Welch was in devastating form taking the title 21-5 to maintain his unbeaten record in the competition.
