A school in Thame will close as a mark of respect on the day of a popular teacher's funeral.

The body of John Fulkes, 54, was discovered at his home in Pym Walk, Thame, on Monday. It is thought he had been dead for some time.

Mr Fulkes, an English teacher, had been head of the sixth form at Lord Williams's School, Thame, for 18 years.

The funeral service will take place at 10.45am on Friday, April 30, at St Mary's Church, Thame, followed by a private cremation in Oxford.

The family has expressed the wish for donations to be made to a charity that supports the development of young cricketers.

Family, friends, colleagues and students are invited to gather in the main hall at Lord Williams's School, Oxford Road, Thame, for refreshments from noon onwards.
