Graham Rix says Oxford United will be concentrating only on themselves at Macclesfield today - even though they need a little help from their friends.

They need to win at Moss Rose to stand a chance of reaching the play-offs - and must also hope that neither Yeovil nor Northampton pick up three points in their home games Hull and Bury respectively.

But although the matches at Huish Park and Sixfields will be just as important, Rix is focusing only on his team.

"We've got to concentrate on winning our game," he said. "We need to win both our last two games and then we might have a chance of making the play-offs, and if that's the case then we'll have a bit of momentum.

"It could be that we win both and still don't make it, but all we're focussing on is winning our games.

"The boys have been brilliant in training this week so we believe we can do it.

"If we can beat Macclesfield it could set up a very exciting last day of the season."

United's new boss has named a 19-man squad, but it is again without striker Steve Basham and Matt robinson through injury.

It includes Barry Quinn, the Coventry midfielder who played for an hour of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final against Banbury United at the Kassam Stadium on Thursday night.

Also missing today is skipper Andy Crosby, suspended after he was shown the red card at Torquay.

Rix's assistant David Oldfield says United's players have got to put themselves on the line, in the way they did in the first half of the season, when the resolve of the team was so outstanding.

"We must get back to throwing bodies in the way of shots and putting ourselves on the line," Oldfield said.

Rix would not reveal who would be in his starting line-up.

One of the most intriguing questions the fans will be asking is whether he plays Jefferson Louis, who came off the bench and scored the second goal in the 2-2 draw with Cambridge. Julian Alsop is again left out of the squad.

Macclesfield are without George Abbey, their Nigerian international right back, who has a hamstring injury, but target man Jon Parkin, who has been out with a fortnight with knee trouble, is set to return.

The Silkmen include Tommy Widdrington, who was with the U's on trial last summer.

They need a point to guarantee safety, and visit Bury on the final day.
