Stephanie Grant at In Oxford Shop, one of the few places selling appeal keyrings

The key ring, pictured above, is on sale at the reception of In Oxford magazine, in Golden Cross, off Cornmarket Street. They are also sold at Asda in Wheatley.

The key rings cost £1.50 and have a handy round disc attached, the same size as a pound coin. It can be used in supermarket trolleys and changing room lockers.

Richard Rosser, managing director of In Oxford, said: "We will do anything we can to help the cause."

The shop has bought new stocks of the key rings after selling out.

Lorraine Brooks, shop manager, said: "They are very popular, which is obviously really good for the charity. People like them because it's such a clever idea."

Emma Franklin, development officer for the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign, said: "We are looking for companies to sell the key rings in and around Oxford.

"Once the children's hospital is built is will be treating kids from far-flung areas, so we are looking for shops to sell them in villages as well as in Oxford.

"They are a great idea -- unique and very useful. In buying or selling one you will be supporting a local charity."

All profits from the key rings go to the charity. It is expected Oxford Children's Hospital will be used by 47,000 outpatients and 14,000 inpatients every year.

Along with 106 beds, it will provide classrooms and play areas on every floor, a computer room, an adolescents area, an outpatients department and a dedicated X-ray department.
