A woman fighting for separate-sex changing rooms at Spiceball Sports Centre in Banbury is celebrating after a solicitor has offered to take up her case free of charge.
Linda Ebbage, of Park End, Bodicote, lost her claim at Oxford County Court last month that existing mixed changing facilities at the sports centre contravened the Sex Discrimination Act.
"I am over the moon," said Mrs Ebbage on Tuesday. The solicitor, Imran Khan, who practises in Gloucester, said: "I have agreed to help Ms Ebbage because this is something personal to me.
"My wife went through similar circumstances with a leisure centre in southern Wales. I wrote a letter and the leisure centre provided a separate changing facility for women which was more secure."
Mr Khan said he would meet Ms Ebbage today.
In the run-up to the court case Ms Ebbage said Spiceball's changing rooms were different to other mixed changing rooms because women had less privacy than men. She has campaigned for 11 years for a single sex facility and has collected 1,500 signatures.
