Barry Quinn says that Oxford United's players must take heart from their second-half performance against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
But the former Coventry midfielder admits it was the type of match United need to win if they are to have ambitions of promotion.
A dire first-half display saw the U's booed off at the break .
"Half-time really could not have come quick enough for us," Quinn admitted. "We never got going in the first half.
"The Gaffer had a few words at half-time to us, and we came out fighting for the second period, which was good."
Quinn was recalled to the United line-up to play in a three-man back line alongside Ashton and Lee Molyneaux.
