Sir - If Andrew Beal (Oxford Mail, August 11) is going home to a 'ruined meal' after a hard day's work, what's his hurry?

Why not stop off on the Cowley Road and grab a takeaway from one of the 20-plus fast food outlets offering a choice from all points of the former empire -- and beyond -- scattered along its course?

Failing that, why not do an hour's overtime, let the rush die down, and get home in the normal 20 minutes.

These roadworks have been advertised for months! Surely he can't honestly blame the contractors for his dodgy evening meal.

He'll have to look closer to home to resolve this. Cook it later (on gas) perhaps?
