A bowls club wants to increase security at its premises after two break-ins within a week.
Bottles of spirits were stolen when Bicester Bowls Club pavilion and clubhouse, off London Road, Bicester, was broken into overnight on August 9. The following Thursday night , a safe containing about £350 and a charity bottle, containing between £30 and £50, were taken. The safe was later found by the police about half a mile away in the churchyard of St Edburg's Church. It had been opened and the money stolen.
Club bar steward Tony King said: "Although the building is alarmed, I think we shall have to increase our security. We had about £1,500 worth of damage done to the building."
The building is leased from Bicester Town Council, and he thought the club would have to discuss security with the council.
Mr King added: "At the very least we shall need a new outside door, and the bar grille repaired or replaced as they were damaged in the latest incident."
