The saga of the 'bombs' on board two lorries is an extraordinary affair.
Two lorry drivers received an emergency message from their bosses to say their vehicles might be carrying Second World War devices.
They did everything right. They pulled into a layby, dialled 999 and warned other drivers to keep away.
It is not difficult to imagine what went through their minds as they waited for police and bomb disposal experts, and no-one turned up.
What no-one bothered to tell the drivers was that if there was anything sinister, they would be incendiary devices, which could catch fire but do little else.
It was a classic case of lack of communication.
One phone call to the lorry drivers from their managers, or Gloucestershire police, would have put their minds at rest and saved a lot of anxiety.
