A COOL penalty from skipper Tony Joyce gave Thame United a 1-0 victory against Sutton Coldfield Town the points in a dour Division 1 West clash on Saturday.
John Mitchell was felled in the box by the home side's keeper, and Joyce made no mistake from the spot with just 14 minutes remaining.
The best chance of the opening period fell to Jon Gardner, but a fine run from deep ended with the striker shooting weakly.
The home side nearly snatched an unlikely lead in the 67th minute when Mark Avery did well to deflect a Dean Baker shot on to the post and keeper Steve Smith knocked the ball behind for a corner that leading scorer Dean Perrow headed over.
But Mitchell was then felled in the box, and Joyce gave his side the three points.
