DIDCOT Town moved into the fourth round of the FA Vase for only the second time in their history, thanks to a superb 1-0 win at Wessex League high-fliers Gosport Borough on Saturday.
Bradley Ward scored the only goal of the game with just six minutes remaining to give Didcot a thoroughly-deserved victory.
After the visitors had been frustrated time and time again, a moment of magic from Ward changed the game.
Didcot were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out after Stuart Beavon was fouled, and Ward thumped the ball past the despairing dive of Gosprt keeper Colin Matthews into the far corner.
The visitors dominated the first half, but Ian Concannon and Beavon both saw two good chances go begging.
Gosport's first real effort came in the 39th minute, when Ian Rew's 25-yard effort was easily saved by Chris Webb.
Didcot continued to dominate after the break.
Laurence Hoey, Beavon, Concannon and Paul Powell all went close, but the home side nearly went ahead against the run of play when Webb was forced to push Graham Lindsay's header behind for a corner.
But just when it looked as though extra-time would be needed, Ward's free kick sent Didcot through.
