City of Oxford produced their best display of the season with an emphatic 5-2 win over Sunbury in their final Regional League game before the Christmas break.
The result leaves them in fourth place and in a good position to challenge for the top three when the league resumes on January 8.
Sunbury took the lead against the run of play, but City were soon level when Andy Small, Matt Green and Simon Harrison combined for the latter to score from close range.
The home side continued to pile on the pressure, and after a good run from Dan Haynes, the ball broke to Steve Bell, who slid in at the far post for a rare goal.
City added a third before half-time when James Ashridge produced a stunning shot from a short corner.
Sunbury pulled one back at the start of the second half, but City re-established the two-goal cushion thanks to Green's superb first-time shot.
Jamie Hamment made it five from another well-worked corner, before Sunbury were denied a consolation as Phil Pearson saved a last-minute penalty.
