Sir - The excellent work carried out at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford is already widely known, but I would like to add my personal observations.
This year, I have had two separate operations for complete knee replacements at the Nuffield.
On each occasion, I was treated with kindness and efficiency by all members of the hospital staff, too numerous to mention by name or category.
The achievements of the Nuffield staff are all the more praiseworthy because their difficult duties have been (and are still being) performed during considerable upheaval caused by extensive building work which necessitates the frequent reorganisation of wards, staff and equipment. Despite this great inconvenience, 'business as usual' has continued.
I am sure many other ex-patients would like to join me in thanking the staff of the Nuffield for their first-rate treatment which has been carried out in adverse circumstances.
