When a finger is pointed in your direction and you are put under scrutiny, it's undignified to deflect it into someone else's direction.

Sadly, and rather astonishingly, that appears to be exactly what's happening at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

What appeared to be happening was a review into the data after claims that the hospital had 'signifcantly higher than average' death rates among babies who had heart surgery.

But before the review is even complete, Trevor Campbell Davis, chief executive of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, has pointed the finger at other hospitals with a 'don't look at us, look at them' attitude.

If he's suggesting that ALL hospitals have reported inaccurate figures on baby death rates, why doesn't he contact the Department of Health and call for a full inquiry or at least a review?

Or is it, as other hospitals have suggested, he simply hasn't got the facts to back his statement up.

The families of the children have remained dignified throughout all of this, so surely the John Radcliffe Hospital should as well until the review is complete and the facts are out in the open.

That's the least they can do for the parents who have lost their loved ones.
