WALLINGFORD Boys were pipped 5-4 by Wolverhampton in the Hockey Association Under 15 Cup third round at The Hithercroft.

Sam Alsworth gave Wallingford a first-half lead when he shot through a crowded goalmouth.

Wolverhampton equalised early in the second half, but Wallingford regained the lead when Edmund English slipped the ball past the keeper to finish off a fine passing move.

However, Wolverhampton then scored four times in the space of 20 minutes to race into a 5-2 lead.

Grant Barber and English pulled goals back for Wallingford, but it wasn't enough.

A hat-trick from Andrew Baggs proved in vain as Oxford Hawks' Boys were beaten 6-4 at home to Northampton Lions in the Under 18 Knockout Cup third round.

Andrew Cole also scored.

Hawks' girls went down 7-4 at home to Maidenhead in their Under 18 Knockout Cup tie. Emma Tolson (2), Jo Tolson and Charlotte Godwin netted for Hawks.

Meanwhile, Oxford Hawks Senators lost 7-4 to Trojans. Their scorers were Andy Clark, Pete Bennett, Simon Dawson and Steve Griffiths.

Hawks Ladies 2nd were beaten 4-1 by Bracknell, with Charlotte Godwin on target.
