As someone who has, in my time, used your letters page to give publicity to civic matters which seemed to me to need correction, I should like to use the festive season to commend others.
As I get older and more disabled, I am greatly impressed by the care and kindness to the old and frail.
There is no lack of people who will help us across the busy roads or lend us a hand in other ways.
City bus drivers are notable examples.
I have recently been in hospital and a home, in both of which we were given the best attention.
I was amazed to discover that surgeons at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford work round the clock.
This naturally entails a huge nursing load.
I think it is a wonderful commentary on human nature.
Though the other side of the picture is all too obvious from the news columns, I should add that you faithfully record much of the happy side too.
