Headington's Title repeat HEADINGTON Roadrunners defied the odds to snatch the men's team title from Woodstock Harriers for the second year running in the last round at Horspath.

Harriers went into Sunday's final round with a seemingly insurmountable 35-point lead over their close rivals.

But Headington proved just too strong as they overhauled Woodstock's advantage to take the title by 25 points.

Headington produced a cracking effort, with five of their seven points-scorers filling positions two to six.

With Headington's other two runners crossing the line in 19th and 20th, Woodstock had an anxious wait to learn their fate, before defeat was confirmed as they lost the round by 60 points.

It was Headington's best score in the league's history, beating their previous mark by nine points.

Tom Penfold, making a rare appearance for White Horse Harriers, won the race in a time of 35mins 43 secs.

Headington's filled the rest of the top six.
