Oxford City 1, Bromsgrove Rovers 2: Oxford City remain on the fringe of the Southern League Division 1 West relegation zone after going down to promotion-chasing Bromsgrove at Court Place Farm on Saturday.
Bromsgrove held the upper hand for much of the first half, and Nando Perna did well to block Kevin Banner's strike as he closed in on goal.
City keeper Matt Finlay then held on well to an effort from Paul Szewczyk.
At the other end, Matt Lowe reacted quickly to push away Perna's free-kick.
And City stunned Bromsgrove by taking the lead in the 38th minute.
Stuart Douglas hammered the ball forward for Gareth McCleary to race through a square defence and go past the keeper, before touching the ball in.
But Bromsgrove equalised a minute into the second half.
Banner's cross was met by the head of Szewczyk, and although Finlay got a hand to the ball, he could not prevent it from crossing the line.
City were having their work cut out to contain determined opponents, and they cracked again in the 82nd minute.
They were able to only clear the ball as far as Riad Erraji, who drove home from close range.
