South West 1: After two successive defeats by Chinnor, Oxford Harlequins bounced back with a bang to hammer Cheltenham 54-19 at Horspath Road on Saturday.
Quins were quickly out of the traps with three tries in the first ten minutes.
Left wing Barry Nutt opened the scoiring before fly half Henry Pooler who raced over from 40 metres, Andy Noyce adding the conversion.
Then full back Noyce danced over the line after good work by the Quins pack. Noyce's conversion made it 19-0.
Slack defence let in Cheltenham's right wing Edwards, but Quins responded with a penalty from Noyce and a try from centre Clinton Searle.
Then more good interplay by forwards and backs resulted in Quins No 8 Patrick Soper being driven over for a try.
The visitors right wing Edwards went over for a converted try to make the half-time score 32-12.
In the second half, Quins played into the strong wind and withstood sustained Cheltenham attacks for the first 15 minutes before tries by centre Charlie Mawle and right wing Chris Ashton, plus a Noyce conversion, eased their worries.
Cheltenham centre Witney scored a try, converted by their full back, before Quins finished in style with further tries from Ashton and Mawle.
Time ran out for Chinnor as they launched a late comeback at Bridgwater.
Trailing 35-17, Chinnor struck twice in the last five minute to narrow the gap to six points and had their hosts reeling. But their high-riding hosts hung on for a 35-29 victory.
Playing with the wind, Bridgwater raced into a 10-0 lead with tries from skipper James Bryant and prolific scorer Manoa Satala.
A James Cathcart penalty settled Chinnor before scrum half Morgan Thompson dummied his way over for a try, which Cathcart converted.
With the scores level, careless Chinnor committed two errors in first-half injury time to concede unconverted tries from Satala and Woodhouse to trail 20-10 at ther break.
Chinnor's woes were compounded when a clash of heads saw Thompson leave the field, with James Hewitt going to scrum-half.
Bridgwater extended the lead with a penalty by George and a try under the posts from Griffiths.
Chinnor's front five were now calling the shots and it was no surprise when Craig Burrows went over for a try, Cathcart adding the extra points.
Bridgwater struck back immediately with a try by Meyer. From then on it was all Chinnor, with Zane Winslade and Chad Ward scoring tries - Cathcart converting one of them - to set up an exciting finish.
