More than 500 people braved rain and cold winds to watch a charity football match in tribute to schoolboy Tomas Ryan-Vig, who died when his schoolbus and a tractor towing a trailer collided.
The match raised around £1,500 for the Diambars charity, set up by Arsenal player Patrick Vieira to help young people in Senegal, West Africa, develop their football skills.
Tomas, 13, was an Arsenal fan and former Arsenal manager Terry Neil and former player Martin Keown, now with Reading, turned up to watch the match at Bicester Town football ground, off Oxford Road, Bicester, on Friday night.
The match was between Tomas's club Bardwell and a team from the Blessed George Napier School, Banbury.
The school won 3-0 in the match, refereed by Anthony Coggins.
Several of Tomas's family watched the match, including his parents Niels and Helen and his sister Seleena, 12, who live in Barry Avenue, Bicester.
They were joined by his grandmother and an uncle from Denmark and grandparents and an aunt, who live in England.
Mrs Ryan-Vig said: "It was a fantastic evening. We were were so pleased that while we all got drenched the rain did not dampen the good spirits of everyone."
The fatal accident was on the B4100 Bicester to Banbury road in the Souldern dips last May.
An inquest into the accident is due to be held in Northampton in April. The tractor driver Benjamin Michael Andrews, 27, of Bethersden, Ashford, Kent, has been charged with driving without due care and attention.
Towcester magistrates have adjourned the court hearing until after the inquest.
