The Rev Colin Scott Jee, who was rector of Ludgershall, near Bicester, for more than 30 years, has died aged 72.
Although Mr Jee retired in 1998 to live at Haddenham, near Thame, he was invited back to Ludgershall to attend village events and also to conduct funerals and weddings for families he had known for many years.
Churchwarden Ron Mole, said: "Mr Jee was a very well appreciated and liked man. Apart from some curacies in London he spent all his time at Ludgershall."
Mr Jee was educated at Worcester College, Oxford, and was trained at Clifton Theological College. He became curate at Spitalfields in London in 1958 and was curate at New Malden from 1962-64.
Mr Jee became rector at Ludgershall in 1966 and from 1973 to 1982 he was also priest in charge at Oakley.
From 1978 until he retired, he was rector of Ludgershall, Wotton Underwood and Ashendon.
He was rural dean of Waddesdon from 1973-78.
Lady Newall, chairman of Wotton Underwood parish meeting, said: "Mr Jee was loved by everyone."
