A new state-of-the-art health centre could built on a public recreation ground in Didcot.
The town council is considering selling one acre of Smallbone Recreation Ground, off Britwell Road, for the construction of an expanded health centre to replace Didcot Health Centre and the Asbury Centre.
Town council leader Margaret Davies said: "It is something the council is considering, but we need more information."
At a town council meeting on Monday the matter was referred back to the environment committee, whose members originally proposed the idea, until a meeting between town councillors and the South West and East Oxfordshire PCT is arranged. A PCT spokesman said: "We are aware that the town council is considering this land, we see that as a contingency plan to other negotiations. We appreciate the town council putting their idea across and working with us."
