A man who seriously sexually assaulted a 56-year-old woman in her Oxford home lives locally and is very distinctive, according to detectives.

A press conference was called yesterday by the investigation team who described the incident as "particularly unpleasant and distressing". It happened between 3pm and 4pm last Saturday (March 12) at a house in Florence Park.

Acting Det Insp Paul Davidson said: "We believe he is either local to, or familiar with, the Florence Park area. I would be very surprised if somebody in the area did not recognise the description."

The attacker, thought to be aged 18 to 22, is described as 5ft 9in, of large build, and with a chubby face.

He had short, black or dark brown hair, a dark complexion and is thought to be of mixed race or Mediterranean origin.

Police said the man was dressed distinctively in expensive designer clothes, including a pair of blue jeans and a red and white baseball-style jacket. The jeans may have been the Evisu brand, pictured, and possibly had a cream left back pocket as well as the 'M' logo on the right-hand pocket.

The attacker is said to have a very particular walk, dragging his feet, and slouched shoulders.

Mr Davidson appealed to members of the public for the names of anybody who fitted the description, so that the police could eliminate them from their inquiries.
