I wish to express the sincere thanks of Cyclox, on behalf of all Oxford cyclists, to Ashley Prior, the county council officer who managed the implementation of a flush kerb from the Botley Road cycle lane to the Thames Path, north of the newly-painted Osney Bridge.
The dropped kerb makes it possible to use one of the best urban cycle routes in Oxford -- from west to north Oxford, avoiding the notorious railway bridge and reducing the on-road distance by 1.3 miles.
Completing this straightforward job of dropping the kerb makes a huge difference to cycling in Oxford.
Network Rail and its contractors, Alfred McAlpine Capital Projects, have finished their work below Sheepwash Bridge, continuing the route through some of the least spoilt backwaters of the Isis and canal with all the wildlife there.
The county has also done a splendid job of repainting Osney Bridge and colouring the detailed ironwork, so thanks, too, to the team that managed and carried out that work. SIMON BANKS, Arthray Road, Botley, Oxford
