Aylesbury Utd 2, Banbury Utd 1: Banbury remain just above the Southern League Premier Division drop zone after defeat at Aylesbury, which revolved around two penalty decisions - one which was given and one which wasn't.
The Ducks took the lead in the sixth minute when Paul Edgeworth cleverly flicked the ball over Simon Tricker with the outside of his foot, after being put in by Drew Roberts.
However, Banbury equalised in the 27th minute.
Tricker sent a long ball down the middle, and Howard Forinton outpaced the Aylesbury defence to score past the onrushing Jack Rashid from 12 yards.
George Redknap had a low shot saved by Rashid after good work by Darren Pond, before Aylesbury regained the lead in controversial fashion in the 34th minute.
A long ball from Edgeworth was cleared by Tricker, before he collided with Roberts, and the referee gave a penalty.
However, having taken the view that Tricker had committed a foul, he then only booked the Banbury keeper rather than sending him off.
Roberts got up and fired the spot-kick past Tricker.
After the break, Banbury dominated.
They spurned two good chances early in the half.
Forinton was wrong-footed at the far post after Jody McKay headed on Ady Fuller's corner, and the opportunity was gone.
And then McKay sent a powerful header inches over.
In the 71st minute, a linesman earned the wrath of Banbury's travelling supporters by turning down what appeared to be a blatant penalty.
An Aylesbury defender seemed to push the ball out of play with both hands in full view of the assistant, who gave a corner.
Banbury Utd: Tricker, Fuller, Jackson, Sullivan, Essex, McKay (Gooderick 57), Pond (Stanbridge 46), Blossom, Forinton, Redknap, Potter (O'Neill 76). Subs not used: Mackay, Burnham.
Attendance: 451.
