Thame Utd 2, Brackley Tn 0: Thame avenged their 5-0 defeat at Brackley on New year's Day with a comfortable victory in yesterday's Division 1 West game at Windmill Stadium.
Brackley shaded the opening stages, with Russ Dunkley shooting wide from eight yards, when he had only Thame goalkeeper Steve Smith to beat.
The first goal came on 29 minutes when a poor clearance fell to Justin Merritt, who reacted quickly and fired a strong shot past goalkeeper Richard Knight from the edge of the area.
More chances were created but squandered by both sides before the break.
Smith was the busier of the goalkeepers early in the second half, making a particularly good save from Danny Morgan.
Thame, however, fought back and, following a spell of pressure, increased their lead in the 69th minute.
A good ball from player-manager Mark West found John Mitchell unmarked on the left. Mitchell bore down on the Brackley goal before confidently beating Knight from 12 yards.
Thame: Smith, Mills, Joyce, Wilson, Avery, Merritt, Gardner, Keen (Stewart 75), Mitchell (Moore 80), Jones, West (Rhodes 87).
