With assistance from world champion Trina Gulliver, Shears hammered unbeaten leaders Cowley Community Centre A 8-1 in their Ladies' Premier Section clash of the titans.
Both teams went into this crunch contest unbeaten, but it was Shears who reigned suprenme to take over at the top with just one game left.
Hosts Shears started well when Gill Cox beat Karen Williams in the opener. But the visitors drew level when Paulette Guy got the better of Iris Doyle.
Shears then put together an amazing winning run as victories by Claire Bywaters, Angie Godfrey, Shirley Lawrence and Gulliver took them 5-1 ahead.
And they increased this to 8-1 by winning all three pairs contests.
In the Men's Premier Section, Cowley Community Centre C secured a comfortable 6-3 win over the B team.
Star of the show was Jon Jukes with two 180s, while Terry Sapey and Percy Brain also claimed maximums in their successes.
For the B team, Peter Rouse, and Pryor recorded 180s in their singles wins.
Railway Social Club A continued their winning run when cruising home 7-2 at Cherwell Club.
The man of the match was Richard Parker, who hit two maximums in his win over Dick Foster, who had a 180 of his own.
Sutton Courtenay shocked Section 3 leaders Littlemore British Legion with a 7-2 home win.
Ian Faulkner's success over Alan Eckart sent them on their way, and they clinched the upset by taking the pairs 3-0.
Last season, Original Swan pipped Kite to the Section 6 title. Now both promoted to Section 4, Kite gained their revenge with an 8-1 win, Peter Gough getting Swan's consolation.
