A group determined to get the green message across to people in Wallingford wants to set up a community shop.
The venture by Sustainable Wallingford is still in the planning stage, but members are working to provide a shop which will sell locally-produced goods and Fairtrade items.
They have already backed the new Down To Earth shop, in St Martin's Street, which is also selling organic foods and locally-produced goods.
Sustainable Wallingford spokesman Christine Sharrock said: "We want a shop to complement Down To Earth, not to compete with it. There's plenty of room in Wallingford for both."
Amanda Griffin, who is also a member of Wallingford Town Council, said: "We're exploring possibilities at the moment and we'll keep people informed as things progress."
The group has worked with South Oxfordshire District Council to put together a Buy Local directory listing, where people can get good food and drink locally.
The booklet gives details of joining a vegetable box scheme and contacting local crafts people and everything promoted in it is produced within a 30-mile radius of Wallingford and sold within seven miles of the town centre.
It is to be launched at Wallingford farmers' market on Saturday, April 30. Members will distribute copies to local residents around the same time.
Copies will also be available at local shops and libraries.
The group was formed just years ago, and has a website at www.sustainablewallingford.org
