Oxford City boss Andy Sinnott says his side's "tremendous character" will help them preserve their Southern League Division 1 West status for next season.

Sinnott's team were just a point from the relegation zone after Friday's 3-2 defeat by Thame.

But on Monday they boosted their chances of escaping the drop with a 1-0 victory at play-off contenders Ashford Town to put them four points clear of danger.

Tomorrow, they entertain Burnham, looking to avenge a defeat they suffered in Buckinghamshire.

"To come out of the Thame game on Friday with nothing and a couple of days later to win at Ashford speaks volumes for the players' resilience," said Sinnott.

"It's a real dogfight near the bottom of the table, but if we show the character we had at Ashford, I am confident we can get out of it.

"Having Martin Brown back in the side made a big difference. He played a captain's role and lifted every- body's performance by at least ten per cent.

"Mark Simms has also given us a boost. He's a lively character on and off the pitch.

"They're the sort of players we need. We have five games to go and I think we can get out of trouble."

City are without Robin Antonowicz (bruised toe) and have doubts over Ben Freeman (shin), Colin Simpson (knee) and Garath McCleary.

Thame United will be without defenders John Mills and Tony Joyce (both unavailable) when they travel to Paulton Rovers.

They also have a doubt over striker Danny Keen after he had to go off with a knee injury in Monday's 2-0 win over Brackley.

Boss Mark West commented: "I said a few weeks ago we could make the run-in easier by winning our next few games, rather than lose a few a leave us with a bit to do."

Gary Wickens returns from injury for Brackley Town as they host Bromsgrove Rovers.

They are without the injured trio of Andy Wallbridge, Craig Farley and Andy Baird.

Banbury United manager Kevin Brock says his side must keep winning to avoid any chance of getting relegated from the Premier Division.

Two successive wins have moved them up to 15th, though they are only seven points from the relegation line.

"I don't think much has changed. All we've done is pull Rugby and Hitchin into it," said Brock.

"And Hemel keep winning, so we're definitely not safe yet."

They will be without Chris Potter (hamstring) and Les Robinson (calf) for their trip to Methyr Tydfil.

Defender Jason Allen makes the squad after playing in Wednesday's Buckingham Charity Cup win over Spratton, his first game back after recovering from testicular cancer.

A collection at Banbury's home game against Solihull Borough, raised £740 in aid of Cancer Research.

Abingdon Town striker Danny Morgan could play his first game for four months as they look to extend their run of one defeat in 11 matches when they host Ryman League Division 2 side Epsom & Ewell.

Morgan hasn't played since October due to an ankle injury.
