City councillor Dee Sinclair is correct in saying that water is 'streaming from Shotover across the ring road' (Oxford Mail, April 27).
This happens regularly after rain and maybe does need to be addressed, but I'm not sure that this had anything to do with the 'torrent of water' that flowed down Richards Way into Harold White Close on that sunny Sunday afternoon on April 17.
I am pleased that she is concerned for all of the residents of Risinghurst, private householders as well as council tenants, not forgetting allotment holders, and I sincerely hope that she gets some answers about what went wrong.
I look forward to hearing what the city and county councils plan to do to help prevent any more floods, small or large, from damaging any more homes in Risinghurst and upsetting any more lives.
I have never had to suffer a flood and lose all my furniture and a lot of my personal possessions like some of the residents of Knights House, let alone be moved from my home three times (my aunt was away from her home for seven months after the second flood) in the last eight years while 'blame' was debated and repairs were carried out.
I cannot begin to know how these poor people feel.
I hope that Ms Sinclair will keep on pressing for answers, and demand that more substantial measures will be taken to ensure that current and future residents of Risinghurst, especially those in Knights House, will no longer face the threat of flooding, either as the result of the weather or another burst water pipe.
