Three schools in Abingdon and the Army Benevolent Fund shared in a handout of nearly £2,000 thanks to soldiers from 3 Close Support Regiment, at the town's Dalton Barracks, who took part in last year's New York Marathon.
The group raised money by washing cars, taking collections and in sponsorship from military organisations.
The three schools to benefit were Dry Sandford Primary, the Kingfisher special needs school in Radley Road, Abingdon, and the barracks' own pre-school. Each received £300. The soldiers gave £1,049 to the benevolent fund.
The fundraisers were Capt Robert McCullough, of the New Zealand Army, Regimental Sgt Major Den Howard, Warrant Officer John Hughes, Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2) John Hughes, WO2 Sally Bowman and Sgt John Hargreaves.
