Bicester & North Oxford slipped to a four-wicket defeat at Tring Park on their return to Division 2 West.
A slow start against some excellent line and length bowling of Simon Stanway, who took 3-33 off 21 overs, saw Bicester held to 192-9.
Darryl Wooods made 70 in three hours, while Alex Jewell and Tauqeer Hussain chipped in with useful contributions.
In reply, Tring raced to 70 in 15 overs.
Tauqeer Hussain had picked up one wicket and was starting to look threatening when he twisted his knee in the 18th over.
Despite a superb spell of 19 consecutive overs by Paul Jeacock, who took 4-58, Tring won with four overs to spare with Adam Pusey making 55.
