CCS Home Counties League: Stewart Laudat hit a superb century to give new Oxford captain Pat Jobson a winning start in Division 1 with a 67-run victory over Falkland at Roman Way on Saturday.
Oxford were in some trouble after Neil Gunter, who has returned to his old club after being released by Derbyshire at the end of last season, reduced them to 39-3.
But Laudat and Jobson steadied the ship, before Oxford's new Indian all-rounder, Ronak Sekhri, took them to 219 all out on a track with pace and sideways movement.
Laudat finished with 109, while Gunter picked up 6-72.
Oxford started with the old ball and spinners, and Falkland quickly slid to 37-3, with Rupert Evans taking the first two wickets.
A stand of 64 between Mark Abrahim and Khalid Zafar put the vistors back in contention.
But with Evans returning to grab the valuable scalp of Zafar for 32 and Laudat removing Abrahim 57, it left Mohson Rana to clean up the tail with two quick wickets.
