A great-great-grandmother from Didcot has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Mary Stringer, a resident at The Meadows care home, was surrounded on May 8 by members of her family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Australia, who had flown to the UK to join in the celebrations.
Mrs Stringer Mrs Stringer was born and raised in Gateshead and after leaving school she worked in the printing trade. She married and had four children but was widowed at 49.
After working as a barmaid, a dinner lady and a cleaner, Mrs Stringer retired. In 1994 she moved to live with her daughter in Didcot.
She has eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She celebrated with a party at The Meadows.
