Phil Adams got the season off with a bang, smashing off a double-sixer in a magnificent 17-tally to help Premier Section champions Cricketers to a 3-0 home win over Three Pigeons.

Adams actually missed with his first stick, before clanging off 17 in a row. He was supported by Ivor Clarke who hit 13 in the 29-20, 31-23, 27-23 scoreline.

Trevor Greenaway recorded a six in his dozen dolls for Garsington Sports as they beat the Premier new boys Squire Bassett 2-1.

Paul Sawyer top-scored for Squire with 5-5-4.

Jason Weller, with 14 dolls, and Francis Hillier, 12, both hit sixes for Highfield as they blew away New Club 3-0, with leg scores of 31-23, 30-30, 32-25.

In Section 3, Vikings' Alan Davies clanged off a six, but then failed to trouble the doll in the second before redeeming himself with a two in the third leg.

Vikings won the game 2-1 at Red Lion, Garsington, for whom Barry Gilding scored 11.

In Section 6, Black Swan beat Lord Kitchener 3-0, but the scoreline did not show the true picture.

Swan took the first leg 14-13 and won the second leg on three sticks after tying 14-14.

Kitchener set 18 in the final leg, but Swan's anchor man John Curran came to their rescue with four dolls needed to take the leg 20-18.

Steve Champ hit an impressive 12 dolls, including a six, as Democrats B took all three legs 17-12, 17-12, 16-14 at George Botley in Section 9.

In Section 10, Red Lion B, Brill, went down 2-1 to Shelley Arms, despite Martyn Kitson whipping off a six.

Red Lion, Yarnton, roared the loudest as they trounced near neighbours Red Lion, Cassington, 3-0.

Anchor man Nick Hall was the hero as he clanged off a four and five to take the first and third legs respectively 16-15 and 15-13.

The clash between Folly Bridge Inn and Kennington Club in Section 12 was mighty close, with Folly scraping through 2-1.

The first leg went to the club men on a three-stick shoot-out after drawing the leg 8-8.

Folly took the next leg 9-6 and the decider 8-7. Roger Carter top scored with seven dolls.

After going through all of last season without a win Kings Arms Ladies grabbed their first win in Section 13, against Kite, who had previously gone through the 2003 season winless.

Also in Section 13, Chris Simmons, from Red Lion, Marston, hit premiership form with an impressive 13 dolls 4-5-4, but they still lost out 2-1 to The Squire Bassett B.
