While I congratulate the Conservatives for winning control of Oxfordshire County Council, I do so with bated breath.
Many of us remember the massive cuts they have imposed on us in the past, dramatically affecting education and social services.
To do so again would seriously threaten services to the young and most vunerable in the county.
Their plan to encourage local schools to buy food and produce from local producers seems good in principle as it would support local farmers and help reduce 'food miles'.
I do, however, have serious concerns about their plans to open up the city centre to cars in the evenings and at weekends.
Our roads are already congested. We do not need more cars choking our city.
Group leader Keith Mitchell says this time his party will listen -- let's hope they do!
