It is alarming that police cannot get evidence to prosecute the attackers of Chris Parrott.
Detectives say witnesses are too scared to identify the thugs who viciously assaulted the Morris Motors club steward.
But there are ways in which the public can be protected from potential threats. We have already seen cases where criminals have been successfully prosecuted without witnesses having to give evidence in public.
And there is always Crimestoppers, the hotline where people can give vital information without divulging their names.
Someone, somewhere knows who is responsible for this attack. They must tell the police what they know.
It is vital these young louts are brought to justice and stopped from committing further violence.
