I read with interest the article on research by Dr Alexandra Richardson into diet and behaviour (Oxford Mail, May 7).
While your report was technically correct, in that children with attention deficit disorder could be better off with a simple change of diet, it was made clear that in true ADHD, a change of diet alone will not provide a cure.
Articles that, due to poor wording, give the impression that parents of ADHD children cause the problem by feeding them on junk food are not helpful to anyone.
As a parent of a child with ADHD, I know that my daughter's condition is caused by the brain damage she suffered at birth, but other people will judge her on what they read about 'naughty, neglected' children, not knowing that she is on a strict diet as well as medication.
