The promoters of the postponed Andrea Bocelli concert failed to show up for a meeting with Oxford City Council to discuss plans for rescheduling the event, which they are now not certain will actually be going ahead on July 10.
Last week, Mike Dandridge and Darren Ward, of the Very Impressive Party Company (Vipco) officially confirmed the new date and told the Oxford Mail it would begin making plans for the concert, which is due to take place at the Kassam Stadium.
But on May 12 the pair failed to attend a meeting with officers from the planning, environmental health and highways departments of the city council.
Nick Spence, city council spokesman, said: "There was no meeting. Mike Dandridge and Darren Ward didn't turn up, but we are endeavouring to contact them to try to reorganise another meeting.
"We are trying to ensure we do meet with them to make sure the concert happens."
Mr Spence added that, as far as he was aware, no one at the council had been told not to expect Mr Dandridge or Mr Ward.
But , Mr Ward, who also runs the Red Lion pub at Islip, said: "We had to postpone the meeting, we're getting used to postponing things at the moment, so the meeting hasn't taken place yet but it will.
"I am sure we emailed someone at the council to tell them. We're really busy here at the moment, we've got Time Team filming at the pub, so our time has been taken up with that."
And, despite officially announcing the new date last week, Mr Ward admitted there was some doubt over whether the concert, originally planned for April 30, will take place on July 10.
He said: "We're still working on it. July 10 is a date thrust on us by the Italians. As far as we're aware, that date is OK, but we're not 100 per cent certain, more like 99 per cent. I know we've got the message on the answerphone, but it is still to be officially agreed with the council."
Callers to Vipco's offices are greeted with an answerphone message stating: "We are pleased to announce that the revised date for the Andrea Bocelli concert is Sunday, July 10, this year.
"We hope this date is convenient for the majority of existing ticketholders but realise that some might not be able to attend."
