Two-goal hero Stuart Beavon was lost for words after clinching the FA Vase for Didcot Town.

Beavon was rightly crowned man-of-the-match for his performance at White Hart Lane that proved the difference between the sides.

He took both his goals in clinical fashion and proved a handful for Sudbury's defence all game.

And on the ground where both his father and grandfather had played, it was perhaps fated that he would steal the show.

But after a fluent performance out on the pitch, the striker struggled to explain just how happy he felt afterwards.

He said: "It's special. I don't really know what to say except that I'm gobsmacked.

Beavon's strike partner Ian Concannon said: "I think the team performance today brought out our true qualities. We've got loads of unsung heroes."

He added: "It wouldn't have bothered me if our right back scored three goals today as long as we won. I had a day off today and 'Bev' took the glory."

Midfielder Andy Parrott said the back four deserved as much credit as the forwards.

He said: "I think we've still got to single out players like Grant Goodall.

"When Sudbury got a chance, who was there to clear the ball away? It was Grant."

Captain Jamie Heapy said: "The team really came through today. It was a really special day."
