Wallingford town councillors are relying on cameras to prove that more protection is needed in Market Place.

Pictures will be taken of the Market Square as it is now, with planned seating and flower baskets on poles drawn in. The changes are aimed at preventing the area from becoming a car park.

Councillors want South Oxfordshire District Council to approve the new measures to keep Market Place free of vehicles.

Town clerk Andrew Rogers said: "We hope more seats and more flower baskets will discourage parkers and will keep the square open for people to sit in and walk in.

"We've even had 40-tonne lorries parking there and the traffic is causing a lot of damage."
