Oxford City manager Andy Sinnott has paid the price for relegation after he was moved upstairs in a board reshuffle at the Court Place Farm club.

He now becomes a director with special responsibility for the club's community and youth development prog- ramme.

I understand that Wantage Town boss Andy Lyne - a former player and assistant manager at City - and Bicester Town manager Tim Fowler, are both in the frame for the job.

City's assistant manager Pete Lamont, who has left the club, ex-City boss Paul Lee, and former Oxford United defender and Brackley boss Mike Ford have all been ruled out.

Sinnott will work alongside Oxford City Colts' chairman Darren Davies.

He denied he had been forced into the new role, saying: "About a year ago, I had a promotion in my job, and that made running a football club more and more difficult.

"I want to take the opportunity to scale down my commitment at the club.

"I said to the chairman I wanted to stand down, but to still have some involvement at the club, and this directorship enables me to do that.

"I regard it as a great honour, having played for the club, and managing them for the past two seasons.

"I am looking forward to working with Darren and helping to produce the next generation of Oxford City players.

"There will certainly be less stress!

"It was nice to be involved in selecting the new manager and I wish him every success."

Chairman Brian Cox said: "Andy has been an excellent ambassador for Oxford City in the last two years. He will bring energy and enthusiasm into the boardroom.

"We would like to thank him for his hard work as manager and welcome his escalation to this new role."

Other board changes see Colin Taylor appointed managing director, while Paul Cotterell becomes vice-chairman.

City, who were relegated from the Southern League Division 1 West on the final day of last season, are set to compete in the Spartan South Midland League next term, although that has yet to be ratified.

Oxford City Reserves have merged with Quarry Nomads to become Oxford City Nomads. They will play in Hellenic League Division 1 West next season.
