Former Wantage Town boss Andy Lyne has been named as Oxford City's new manager.

He takes over from Andy Sinnott, who quit after the club were relegated from Southern League Division 1 West on the last day of the campaign.

Sinnott, who has since become a club director, had been in charge for two seasons.

Lyne, 52, who has had two spells at City as assistant manager, says his main priority next season will be to get the club promoted.

"I'm delighted to be back at City. I'm really looking forward to it," he said.

"I have managed at all levels, and my track record is pretty good. This will be my 24th consecutive year as a manager, which takes me over the 1,000 games mark.

"I was brought up as a City fan by my dad, and it's a job that really appeals. It has always been an ambition of mine to manage them.

"We have some good players here, but I have got lots of contacts and have been talking to other players about coming here.

"I know we have a very good youth set-up, but the first team have got to deliver."

A statement from City said: "Andy is a well respected manager with a proven track record."
