Anyone who wants to help the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign is being given a chance to raise money simply by enjoying a night of laughter.

Tickets are still available for a evening of entertainment with comedian Brian Conley, who is lending his support for the £15m appeal at the New Theatre, in George Street, on Monday, May 23.

The star is taking time out from his busy schedule in London's West End, where he is playing Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, eight times a week at the London Palladium.

He will be joined by Oxfordshire singer Zo Mace, who will be performing at the show a month before releasing her second CD Songs for my Sister.

The 10-year-old Cokethorpe School pupil, of Witney Road, Freeland, has already raised £27,000 for the children's hospital through sales of her first disc, Little Ray of Light.

Her mother, Linda, said: "Zo is really proud to be helping the Children's Hospital Campaign again, and is practising songs from her new album to sing at the New Theatre.

"She's very excited, especially as all her friends from Stagecoach theatre group will be joining her on stage too."

The evening has been organised by Masons at Oxford's Oxnaford Lodge in Banbury Road, who hope to raise £20,000 from the event.

The money will be split between the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign and the New Samaritan Masonic Fund.

Brian Conley fans from across the country have already snapped up many of the 1,700 tickets, but there are a few left.

A spokesman for the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, which is responsible for the £30m 106-bed children's hospital, said: "It's extremely valuable to have such a high-profile figure linked to our campaign.

"If people don't know about the appeal already, they certainly will after the show.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise money and spread the word about the children's hospital.

"We hope the concert is a sell-out and helps inspire people to think of other events that they could organise for the campaign."

Tickets for next week's Brian Conley show cost £15-£22, and are available by calling the New Theatre box office on 0870 6063500.

Work has already started on the children's hospital, which is being built at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, and will open in early 2007.
