You would have thought that Paul Coombes was in enough trouble without asking for it.

He was evicted from his flat in Foresters Tower at Wood Farm, Oxford, given a temporary Asbo and banned from the estate for making his neighbours' lives a misery.

Yet within hours, he returned to his former home, in clear breach of the court order. Can anyone understand the mentality of the man?

He is a 40-year-old father of four, old enough, one would have thought, and with enough responsibilities to be displaying at least an ounce of discipline in his life.

He is now paying the price -- in jail. It is the best place for him.
